Working Groups/SIGs

Before each meeting we are having working groups for special interests(SIGs), collaboration and “getting stuff done” time.

It will be the hour before each regional meeting.  So this next meeting on the 22nd of September starts at 11:00 am.  We will be available for working groups at 10:00 am.  That way people who can come early for extra benefit can work in teams.  It also makes the regional meeting more valuable for those traveling a long distance.

This is freeflow time for now.  Some people will be organizing groups officially, but any group can come and work together.  As the concept grows we may have to manage it, but for now, let’s “get stuff done” and help each other is the idea.

Our builder space host is an excellent place for a working group concept.   You can bring your laptops because we will have actual table space to work together.

The type of groups are still open for discussion.  Here are some so far:

Developer/Source Code Navigation –I will be leading a new developer working group for those who want hands on help and collaboration with Python and the source code base of Blender.  That includes Python add-ons and actual Blender C/C++ source code navigation and patching.

Hardware/Rendering –Sam will be leading a hardware and rendering working group.  He is currently working on a feature film and will be showcasing and assisting those interested in render farms and hardware/rendering issues.  He will possibly be bringing his rendering server to show.

Blender Game Engine –a few people can help with that so far

Animation

Rigging

Motion Graphics

Match Moving/Motion Tracking/Camera Tracking

Lighting

Modeling for 3D Printing

Collaborative Short Animation Projects

TV Commercials/Announcements

ETC…I think you get the idea…
